Nelda Bell Talafous passed away today (August 2, 2012). Nelda Bell was born in Dallas, TX in 1919. She grew up in Texas and was a true southern "Bell". She left Texas to pursue her passion for art. Her adventurous spirit took her to California where she attended art school and eventually met a young by the name of Carl Talafous in 1942. Despite fearing that no one would ever again be able to pronounce much less spell her last name she fell head over heals in love and married Carl. Together they began a life and laughter. They had 3 glorious children together Carol, Katherine (Kathy) and Richard (Rick). This little family would find there way to Los Alamos New Mexico and there Nelda would open her heart and warm the entire community of this sleepy little mountain town. Nelda was a beautiful, strong, vivacious woman. She was never afraid to speak her mind though she did so in a way that made you love her all the more. She loved art and music and was always up for a song and dance. She always saw the magic in every person she met and she always found the greatness in even the smallest flower. She was loved by all those that had the joy of being with her and she will be deeply missed.
